IBM says it’s launching a new consulting service to “help more companies and institutions retain and manage their older IT workers.”
Big Blue notes that a large segment of the IT workforce can see retirement in the distance and the number of 25-64 workers is on the decline, which could lead to the eventual (or mythical, depending on your belief) Dreaded IT Shortage.
Here’s a wild idea: Let the older IT folks retire when they want and hire the IT pros who never really recovered from the 2000-2001 Great Layoff. It’s not 1998 anymore, gang.
