Amazon.com’s offering a refund to users who have bought – and want to return – Sony CDs featuring the controversial XCP anti-piracy DRM software.

The BBC reports e-mails are appearing in the inboxes of those who Amazon know bought any of the 52 titles containing the rootkit, which has been found to open security holes in user PCs. Interestingly, earlier this week Sony was claiming there were only 20 CD titles containing the software.

Sony is also now offering an exchange program in which those who bought affected titles can return them and get XCP-free versions.
