Good news, bad news on the cold front

The bad news:

Taking cough medicine does little to help recovery, US experts have said. The American College of Chest Physicians has published guidelines for its members saying there was “no clinical evidence” they worked.

The good news:

An ingredient of chocolate could put a stop to persistent coughs and lead to new, more effective cough medicines, research suggests. Scientists found the key ingredient, theobromine, is nearly a third more effective in stopping persistent coughs than the leading medicine codeine.

Forget picking up the icky tasting cough medicine, grab a bag of Lindt’s instead.
