The site is an incredibly cheap – and incredibly illegal – music download venue. Well, it’s quasi-legal in that you do pay for downloads, however you don’t pay much. For example, The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ new double-CD “Stadium Arcadium” costs $3.45 at AllofMP3, compared to $19.90 on iTunes. AllofMP3, which operates out of Moscow, also runs on the principle of “Copyright, Schmopyright.”
It overlooks small issues like DRM or actually paying anything to record labels and artists, so it can pass the savings onto you.
And, as you can imagine, record labels and artists have just about had it and are urging the international version of the RIAA to put the hammer (and sickle) down on the site.
