The most embarrassing business software violation ever

We’ve all heard of businesses getting whacked monitarily for running unlicensed software, but imagine the embarassment of getting caught running unlicensed fonts. And not just a few, try 11,000.

An ex-employee London’s Campden Publishing tipped off Britian’s Business Software Alliance, which conducted a “font raid” on the publishing house. That’s a fun mental image. Wonder if they worked in offices that looked like a chip shop, but when you pull a secret lever, the wall swings around and everyone’s at desktops – gasp – using illegal fonts!

While it all sounds silly, it certainly wasn’t for Campden, which was hit with around $145,000 in fines.
