India officials say their blog ban is the result of “a technological error” and will be repaired “soon.”
All of a sudden India’s acting like a cable repairman.
Officials say the “blog blockade” came after they found “‘two impertinent pages’ rife with material considered to be ‘extremely derogatory references to Islam,’ ” notes The New York Times.
Now we don’t condone derogatory references to anything (Ed. – Except Dell), but have these officials never visited the ‘Net before? Sixty-three percent of it’s derogatory.
Indian officials said they meant to block access to just those two pages, but instead barricaded all blogs. Oopsie.
And, FYI, Indian blogs are still inaccessible, so it’s not “soon” yet, apparently.
We know one thing: Indian bloggers are going to have a lot of fodder when they’re back online.
