Microsoft’s putting a pervert button on Messenger in the UK so users can immediately report sexual predators to authorities.
According to The Guardian: “The ‘report abuse’ icon will link any users worried about their anonymous internet buddies directly to online police services.”
“This is a landmark step by Microsoft,” says Jim Gamble, CEO of the Child Exploitation & Online Protection Centre. “They could have got 20,000 in ad revenue for the space they have given up to ensure a higher level of user safety and we hope others will follow them.”
Messenger is the No. 1 instant messaging service in the UK, followed by AOL, then Yahoo.
We don’t use Messenger, does the U.S. version have a similar feature?
