Sorta.
Sun bought life-sized painted replicas of Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard and has been toting them around its campus like a high-tech Stanley Cup.
Sun CEO Jonathan Schwartz said the stunt was an example of “good, cheap, drive-the-other-guys-up-a-wall fun.”
HP’s not laughing: “I never met Bill or Dave, but I bet neither of them would have approved paying thousands for representations of themselves,” notes HP Vice President Eric Kintz.
We would think Bill or Dave are still busy counting their money and couldn’t give a rat’s behind. Thanks to a reader we now know Bill and Dave are, in fact, dead. So they probably care even less. But if they’re really mad, they could haunt Sun HQ.
What the hell is Sun up to? Read on.
