While HP’s soon-to-be-former Chairman Patricia Dunn has absorbed most of the heat for the company’s Laurel-and-Hardyish boardroom spying scandal, HP CEO’s past and present are also being called upon to parry questions from the press about this fine mess.
At this morning’s HP Technology Summit in Houston, CEO Mark Hurd was upbeat and business as usual during his keynote address, but less than talkative afterward, according to Network World Senior Editor Deni Connor, who was in attendance.
“Hurd did not answer any questions about the board debacle taking place or about the congressional committee hearings on pretexting, which HP execs have been invited to,” Connor reports via her Blackberry. “After concluding his keynote, Hurd was hustled into a waiting car while PR people pushed the press back.”
On Friday it was former CEO Carly Fiorina’s turn in the hot seat as she spoke to the Women’s Leadership Conference at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.
“I’m not going to answer your question,” she said when asked specifically about how Dunn has handled the situation. “It’s a question I’m never going to answer.”
