Highlighting the Web

Just saw a demo from a company that I may actually use. When surfing the web, if there’s a snippet of information I want to jot down or keep, I have to either write myself a note or send the URL of the page to myself via e-mail. i-Lighter might be the solution. It’s a plug-in for IE or Firefox that lets you litterally highlight text on a page, make annotations and save the data on the i-Lighter server. A desktop application lets you manage the data and notes that you collect as well as make it private or public. Public data is searchable by other i-Lighter users. All data can be exported to blogging software and Word for easy reuse. Plus, they’ve got a cool model for working with Web sites to provide very targeted ads to visitors that use i-Lighter. It’s definitely something I will be giving a try.
