Obviously, I am not proposing a swap, as I am quite certain no one would give me their dog in exchange for a beer … a case maybe.
No, what we have here this morning is news that Terrie Berenden, a pet shop owner in Amsterdam, has proven that woman is dog’s best friend. From an Associated Press story:
“Once a year we go to Austria to hunt with our dogs, and at the end of the day we sit on the verandah and drink a beer. So we thought, my dog also has earned it,” she said. Berenden consigned a local brewery to make and bottle the nonalcoholic beer, branded as Kwispelbier. It was introduced to the market last week and advertised it as ‘a beer for your best friend.’ “
Was this really necessary?
I mean please don’t try this at home, but I’m wondering: What would happen if you just gave Rex a bowlful of good ol’ Budweiser … or Guinness, if the fancier stuff whets your whistle?
I presume that every fraternity in the world has already tried this at least once. What happens? Does the pooch go all wobbly? I’ve watched dogs eat rocks and worse, so would a moderate mug of the suds make such an iron-stomached created ill? Or worse?
All you veterinarians out there should please feel free to chime in.
