I’m home right now, it’s 8:30 p.m., I’m on my second, no make that my third glass of wine, the slice of blueberry pie never had a chance (oh, stop, my wife gives me all the grief necessary about mixing my berries) and I check my work e-mail one last time to find this urgent missive from the boss:
“I want this headline on our site!!!”
This headline being: Eagle lugging deer head causes blackout.
Hey, this is from an editor who simply does not use exclamation points, so, alarmed, I do the only thing I know how to do under such a circumstance: post the headline to our site.
It’s not a long story, and here’s the money quote:
You have to live in Alaska to have this kind of outage scenario, said Gayle Wood, an Alaska Electric Light & Power spokeswoman. This is the story of the overly ambitious eagle who evidently found a deer head in the landfill.
Duty done. Now back to The Colbert Report for me.
