Michael Gartenberg, former vice president and research director at JupiterResearch, and a former analyst at Gartner, has joined Microsoft as an “enthusiast evangelist”. In his blog, he describes his new role as “engag[ing] and work[ing] with enthusiasts and other influencers and show them the latest technologies Microsoft has to offer.” Explaining his move, Gartenberg says he now gets to change and nuture technology at Microsoft, adding that “Microsoft is the only company that will enable the seamless transition for users to move in and out of the different aspects of their [digital] lives. In short, no one else comes close to presenting a complete, unified and integrated view of the digital home of the 21st century.”
The blogosphere is mostly positive about the move, with one blogger saying that Gartenberg will fill the void in the Microsoft blogosphere left by Robert Scoble when he departed Microsoft.
Has Gartenberg sold out or is he in a better position to make a difference?
