Patrick Ancipink, AlterPoint director of product marketing, in his blog says Cisco will be exposed for its “proprietary lock-in strategy” as 3Com digs deeper with its Open Services Networking initiative that lets third-party and open source applications run on 3Com gear. “Combine that with the Huawei joint-venture, and 3Com starts to look a lot more dangerous to the vendor status quo and more appealing to customers that want choice and flexibility,” writes Ancipink.
