Have you ever been in a conference and been annoyed by the endless cell phones going off despite endless requests for people to switch the damn things off or mute them? Perhaps the conference room just needs a new coat of paint … And this is the paint to use: EM-SEC Technologies have developed a paint that blocks radio signals in the cell phone and WiFi bands. The paint called EM-SEC Coating, is a water-based polymer that can be applied “to individual rooms or entire facilities.” While it has obvious security application its a great idea for restaurants and movie theaters! Signal attenuation for a 6mil* layer of paint is between 58dB and 78dB in the range 30MHz to 2000MHz signal (see EM-SEC’s data sheet) and costs $4 to $5 per square. * Corrected as per comment below.
