We still don’t know if he’s going or not. Once again today, though, I put the question to Microsoft’s public relations arm. Once again I received a polite but unsatisfying answer:
“We don’t have any additional information to share at this time,” a spokesman tells me.
Nor could I find a headline online blaring a yea or nay (or get Microsoft to tell me if they’ve seen one).
It’s now been three days since news outlets around the globe began wearing out their question-mark keys in reports speculating whether the world’s richest man is planning a space vacation.
Nothing but question marks.
So, what if anything should we make of “at this time” in the spokesman’s reply? Might that hold out hope of Gates ending this tease at some other time?
Well, sooner or later he has to bump into a reporter enterprising enough to ask him straight-out.
