Though Microsoft didn’t give specifics about what to expect in IE 8.0, Chris Wilson, platform architect of Internet Explorer shared some general directions for Microsoft’s next browser update, writes ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley.
Among the gems presented by Wilson at Mix ’07 include:
* Allowing Web site authors to opt-in to standards mode when developing IE 8.0 sites
* Microsoft sees security as its No. 1 challenge iwth IE 8.0
* Microsoft isn’t planning to wait five years between major IE releases
* Company has ruled out releasing new versions of IE in service packs or as part of monthly security updates
