If you are considering a VOIP solution for your business, look no further than Microsoft’s Unified Communications or UC initiative.
With a series of complementary hardware products announced today, the UC server and client allow you to completely do away with your old PBX.
The benefits in the small and medium business (SMB) space are even much clearer, with the introduction of the unified mailbox bringing that messaging advantage larger companies have had down.
This product, currently in a public bet, should be considered by any company wanting to improve messaging and reduce telephony costs.
We are in the UC beta, and will be attending a series of sessions at the Microsoft Windows Hardware Engineering conference, (WinHEC) in Los Angeles where we would bring you more information as we get it.
Edited May 15, 2007: Mirosoft Response Point is not a subset of UC, but an entirely seperate product aimed squarely at the SMB space.
