Microsoft has been trying to get upper-tier networking hardware vendors to join in advancing NAP, Network Access Protection, its framework for protecting networks by enforcing compliance with policies defined by administrators. This framework is different from NAC (Network Admission Control), Cisco’s own scheme for achieving the same end result.
Today, with Juniper and Trusted Computing Group onboard, it leaves only Cisco as the relevant vendor not committed to interoperability with NAP.
