Good customer service goes a long way

This is not really multimedia related but worth passing along. I got a Keurig B50 single-cup brewer around the first of the year. It worked great, brewing nice cups of Green Mountain coffee at the push of a button. Until this past Saturday, when it seemed to have malfunctioned. We tried following the deep clean procedure (which involves running vinegar through the system), but to no avail.

So my wife called the Keurig customer support number to see if they could offer suggestions. The person who answered couldn’t do much, but took my work number and promised to have someone call us on Monday. Sure enough, a woman from customer service called me and left a voicemail. I returned her call and she picked right up. I recounted the problem we were having with the brewer, she said it sounds like I did everything correctly to try to remedy the problem, but since it is still busted, they’ll ship out a new one right away to me. Wow. No need to argue. Nothing. A customer service rep just making the situation better for a (happy) customer. Sure enough, got an e-mail today saying by new brewer is on the way. All I have to do is pack the old one in the new box, call Keurig and they’ll schedule a pick up with UPS.

Nice work by Keurig. If only more companies could offer service like this!

5/27/05 update: The new unit arrived yesterday and works like a charm.
