WebEx tackles compliance

I wrote a story about this earlier in the week, but finally getting around to posting it here. Just one of those weeks where Friday is here before you know it (not that that’s a bad thing!) Anyhow, WebEx released a new recording feature that’s targeted initially at the Wall Street / financial services crowd. Recording? Every one’s got recording. Well this is a little different. It’s an always on thing that captures everything in the call: audio, video, data and chat, then ships the material back to the customer for long term storage and retrieval. It’s aimed at compliance issues where divulged financial information needs to be kept for what amounts to eternity on a write once, read many disk. For compliance officers, it means they don’t have to worry about end users accidently (or purposely) turning off the recording, which could result in huge fines from government agencies.
