FlashVue is promoting a new way for recruiters to weed through the hundreds of a job applicants for a given position: Video resumes. The company, with a lot of development help from Avenade, created a kiosk application that records a potential employee and sends the video off to the recruiter when the “interview” is over. Right now, FlashVue is targeting big Fortune 500 types with multiple locations. They could deploy the kiosks throughout the country, giving recruiters a wider base to recruit from without the need for travel. Recruiters use a Web-based interface to setup accounts for potential employees and to gather and watch video data. Those being screened can be given the option to answer a question live without retake, or given a few mulligans. Questions can also be tailored to each candidate. The video is encoded into Windows Media format and shipped off to the FlashVue data center almost immediately after the interview completes. Eventually, the company could sign a deal with a FedEx Kinko’s type of company to install generic kiosks that could be used by a wider range of clients.
