Atom Chip Corporation is promising a laptop, the AtomChip SG220-2 that will have a 6.8GHz processor, 1TB RAM, and 2TB storage. The processor will be Atom Chip’s “AtomChip Quantum II processor with 256MB on-board memory” (apprently x86 compatible) which has “a high speed with very low consumption of electrical energy.”
The RAM is claimed to use the company’s “new non-volatile Quantum-Optical RAM” which doesn’t need refresh thereby saving power while the storage isn’t a hard disk but rather their “solid state AtomChip optoelectronics”. They also say the machine will have wireless, built-in camera, and voice recognition.
No price has been announced. Perhaps we should check our calendar again …
