Oh goody. Here goes the last shred of personal privacy. Why not just directly implant the GPS chip under our skin like Sun founder, Scott McNeally advocates, and be done with it? Direct from the Magnolia Broadband press release that I found in my inbox this morning:
“Wondering where your 18 year old daughter is after the prom? Concerned about where your son is since he is two hours past curfew? Concerned that your spouse might be at the race track with friends rather than at the chamber of commerce meeting? Pretty soon this won’t be a challenge in the next 2-3 years thanks to the latest generation of cell phones with GPS mapping and tracking capabilities that are being tested and used in Korea today.”
In today’s world where reality T.V. airs spouses cheating on their wives, where people pour their most private stories out to Dr. Phil, and so on and so on, I can only imagine the number of innovative uses for such tracking technology when you blend it with a public viewing audience. So stay tuned on this one.
