Fiorina’s first year post-HP

What’s Carly Fiorina been doing to keep busy since being sacked as head of HP a year ago today?

Primarily making speeches … and money she apparently doesn’t need all that badly. So says a story in the San Jose Mercury News that was hamstrung somewhat by the fact that Fiorina declined to be interviewed.

One thing she’s not doing is apologizing for the merger with Compaq that proved to be her undoing.

From that article: “I would do the merger all over again,” Fiorina told more than 600 people who packed a Los Angeles ballroom to hear her October keynote address at the Internet Telephony Conference and Expo. “I think the merger has been a resounding success.”

No one should be surprised, even the vast majority of HP watchers who disagree with her. After all, confidence and certitude are what get these hard-chargers into their corner offices in the first place.
