Now that VoIP has started to deliver on some of the hype, wouldn’t it be a shame if spammers and hackers screwed things up? Researchers at a handful of leading universities are taking steps to see this doesn’t happen. Armed with a fresh $600,000 from the National Science Foundation, the University of North Texas and others are creating a testbed to explore VoIP spam, denial-of-service attacks and other threats.
