IT training and certification provider CompTIA launched a new certification designed to help professionals develop and enhance artificial intelligence skills in prompt writing, AI collaboration, and the responsible use of AI.

The AI Prompting Essentials certification program can help professionals learn how to identify tasks best suited to AI and to craft clear, effective prompts for AI chatbots, content generators, and other tools to achieve more accurate responses, CompTIA says.

“AI chatbots are being deployed across the modern workforce to boost employee efficiency and effectiveness, but their impact can be limited when employees are uncertain about how to use them,” said Henry Mann, senior director, product development, CompTIA, in a statement. “AI Prompting Essentials helps learners become more knowledgeable, comfortable, and confident when working with AI in workplace settings.”

CompTIA says that the course will not only explain what AI is and how it has evolved, but it will also teach professionals how to ethically and securely apply AI in multi-step projects common in workplaces to drive collaboration and productivity. The program will teach professionals how to craft clear, effective prompts and enhance outcomes by refining AI responses to yield more relevant results. The course will also cover task automation and how to use AI to automate routine and repetitive tasks, CompTIA says.

CompTIA also offers an AI Essentials course that also focuses on AI concepts and practical skills as a complementary program. AI Prompting Essentials offers hands-on skills using AI tools, while AI Essentials introduces professionals to the basics of AI.

AI Prompting Essentials and AI Essentials are both priced at $99 each. AI Prompting Essentials includes 6 to 8 hours of self-paced content. AI Essentials is described as a 6-hour learning experience. No prior experience is required, and both courses are designed for beginners.
