* Its OpenScape UC Server 2010 edition considered 'Best of VoiceCon'
Siemens Enterprise Communications was awarded the “Best of VoiceCon” for the company’s newly announced OpenScape UC Server 2010 edition. The award is given to recognize VoiceCon exhibitors that have made significant technological innovations and for products the judges believe help to move enterprise communications forward.
SEC unveiled the OpenScape UC Server 2010 edition at VoiceCon, along with a companion announcement that the company has entered into a strategic partnership with VMware to develop virtualized unified communications solutions. The new OpenScape edition allows for software virtualization designed to support server consolidation, increase manageability, serviceability and reduce costs. SEC has also provided new hosted editions and subscription licensing to expand deployment options with its latest release, and it has included packaged integration with social media applications.
In other news timed to coincide with VoiceCon, Acme Packet announced HD Voice – Xtended Reach (HDV-XR), as a new capability for its session border controller family. The company’s support for HD coder/decoders (codecs) on Acme Packet’s Net-Net 9200 platform will help bridge high definition (HD) voice services and applications across IP network borders, and are designed to ease the transition from standard definition (SD) to HD voice. In separate announcements, Acme Packet also disclosed that it now has more than 1,000 customers and 10,000 systems deployed among service provider and enterprises, and that 134 service providers in 43 countries are currently delivering SIP trunking services with its Net-Net SBCs.
And in a joint announcement at VoiceCon, ShoreTel and IBM said that general availability of ShoreTel for IBM Lotus Foundations is planned for Q2 2010. The ShoreTel offer is targeted to offer unified communications and collaboration for small and medium businesses. As a “UCC-in-a-box” solution, it incorporates enterprise-class UCC features like mobility, security, e-mail, presence, instant messaging and advanced IP telephony in an affordable appliance-based solution, according to the companies’ statement. The ShoreTel for IBM Lotus Foundations solution is already in use at several SMB customer locations.
