Researchers at Black Hat conference show how to hack wireless LANs
Two researchers have found a range of security vulnerabilities in Cisco WiFi products. They presented their findings at a Black Hat conference this week, according to this report on ZDNet.
The researchers said it was possible to launch denial of service attacks and to sniff encrypted traffic on Cisco Structured Wireless Aware Network by exploiting weaknesses in a Cisco protocol sharing information between access points. The researchers also demonstrated an attack against Cisco Unified Wireless Network equipment through that gear’s management web interfaces.
The researchers said the Unified Wireless Network equipment uses default SNMP passwords that are widely known, while SNMP itself is vulnerable to cross-site scripting attacks, according to the ZDNet report.
