FBI agents are searching the office of former Washington, D.C. Chief Technology Officer, Vivek Kundra, who has just been named as the CIO for the Obama administration, according to the Politico blog this morning. UPDATE: It’s not entirely clear from the Politico post whether the search is of various office spaces in the “The Office of the Chief Technology Officer” as its officially called, or the physical office formerly occupied by Kundra, or both. Blogger Ben Smith cited a spokeswoman for the FBI’s D.C. field office, who said the search is part of an “ongoing investigation.” Two men have been arrested: Yusuf Acar, described as an information security officer who was also responsible for online requests-for-proposals, and for contracting; and Sushil Bansal, “listed on the city’s procurement website as the CEO of the Advanced Integrated Technologies Corporation, which was awarded two technology contracts last year worth a total of $350,000.” Kundra was appointed last week as the administration’s CIO. Citing a D.C. mayoral spokeswoman, Politico reports that Kundra’s last day at his city office was February 4. He was appointed to the CTO office in 2007. Politico notes he held that office when Bansal’s contract was awarded. September 2008 photo of Vivek Kundra, nominated to be U.S. Chief Information Officer (Photo: from the Washington, D.C.
