The highlight of the Mix09 conference in Las Vegas has of course been the introduction of Internet Explorer 8, but there have been other happenings of note, including a focus on Silverlight 3. However, most important has been the presence of an upbeat attitude.
Bill Buxton, principal researcher at Microsoft Research, said that the tough economic conditions don’t matter – that the need for strong design is as important as ever, according to this article reposted from InfoWorld.
What I like is that he pointed to examples of great design that happened right as the Great Depression was starting – things like the Coke bottle and a pocket Kodak camera. These things survived the Depression and thrived.
