Researchers hunting for Conficker worm’s “patient zero”

Here’s an interesting story of the forensics involved in tracking down the genesis of a worm. Researchers at the University of Michigan are trying to find out where the worm started – a worm that has infected an estimated 10 million computers worldwide. The IDG News Service reports that the university is using so-called “darknet” sensors, which were set up for this very purpose.
