Serious question: Is the Internet doomed to fail?

Columnist Johna Till Johnson admits it sounds like a crazy question, and really, April 1 may not have been the best day to publish something that sounds crazy (but isn’t). However, she says that if you take the recent worries over the Internet’s technological ability to scale and couple them with service providers’ ideas that we ought to return to “walled gardens,” you start to see that the Internet as we know it may not be around in a few years.
