Apple responds to Microsoft’s ads with four new “I’m a Mac” commercials

For quite some time, Apple routinely attacked Microsoft in its series of “I’m a Mac” commercials starring former Comedy Central correspondent John Hodgman and actor Justin Long. Up until recently, Microsoft never addressed the claims made by Apple in its commercials. And even now that Microsoft is referencing Apple in its latest series of “Laptop Hunter” ads, it still hasn’t really addressed any of the issues raised by Apple (i.e viruses, ease of use). Instead, Microsoft’s commercials have focused mainly on price and the affordability of PC’s. Apple, though, has never been a company to compete on price, and recently released four new “I’m a Mac” commercials that continue right where they left off – sticking it to Microsoft in an amusing manner. I’m not sure if the “I’m a Mac” ads are getting old just yet, but they might be getting close. In any event, you can view all of Apple’s new commercial spots below. In the ad called “Stacks”, John Hodgman is looks through thousands of photos for a shot of his friend before Justin Long tells him that if he were using a Mac, he’d be able to find that photo quickly using facial recognition technology. Of course, he’s referring to the new Faces feature that’s now a part of iPhoto.

In the ad titled “Time Traveler”, the PC travels to the year 2150 to see if PC’s have become trouble free. When the PC from 2009 asks the future PC from 2150 how things are going, the future PC freezes up.
In the “Legal Copy” ad, Apple mocks the idea that PC’s are easy to use and have become trouble free.
And finally in an titled “Biohazard Suit”, Apple brings up the commonly held belief that PC’s are more prone to viruses and malware.
