Carrier cutting vendor list from 150 to 40
Cisco appears safe as customer AT&T pares its list of vendors from 150 down to 40, according to TheStreet.com. The carrier is trimming its supplier line in an effort to better focus its strategy on 15 product categories, according to TheStreet.
Cisco and Ciena have apparently retained their status as primary core suppliers to the carrier. Alcatel-Lucent and Adtran may not be so lucky, according to the report.
Juniper, which is believed to have recently lost a router contract with AT&T to Cisco, may be the backup router supplier to the carrier, the story indicates.
