SQL Server
Once again, I am really looking forward to the PASS Summit 2009 in Seattle Nov 2-5. As independent SQL Server conferences go, it is the best, by a long way. As a pre-cursor, the PASS folks are putting on a solid 24 hours of presentations, via the internet, starting tomorrow night Sept 1st at 8pm ET USA which is 00:00 GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). It’s a unique idea. An all-night SQL Server marathon. Yes, I have taught virtual classes over the intenet to customers in Australia where I was online 10pm until 6am the next morning. I was always wary of falling asleep in mid-sentence but luckily that never happened. But this is 24 hours straight not 8. The first session is entitled “10 Big Ideas in Database Design” presented by Paul Nielson and Louis Davidson. The next at 9pm ET is “Using Powershell to get the most out of SQL Server” by Allen White. We’ll see how long I last but the theory is that there are enough time-zones across the world to keep the numbers up throughout the 24 hours. I’ll make a point of attending Kalen Delaney’s session the next day at 20:00 GMT entitled “What’s Simple about Simple Recovery Model?”. Should be a good one. If you want to see the lineup and registration details, take a look here: http://24hours.sqlpass.org/Sessions.aspx Have fun. Excuse me, I am off to stock up on some coffee. cheers Brian
