Cisco greens Networkers

Green efforts at Cisco Networkers 2007 in Australia and New Zealand enabled Cisco to save the  equivalent of almost 208

tonnes of carbon emissions, and almost 70% of the waste from the show was recycled, according to a report in CRN Australia. Computerworld Australia is also reporting that the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, where the event was held last September used low-energy lighting in exhibition halls and reduced food waste by distributing unused food to local charities. Just over half of the attendees opted to receive conference papers via memory stick.

Bravo to Cisco for cutting down attendee waste and for greening up trade shows. But for one delegate’s sake don’t make Networker U.S. attendees reuse the bags that were given out last year …
