Stever Rachui, technical reviewer for the upcoming System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Unleashed book, also shines with OpsMgr 2007 support. He recently blogged on which console to use for MP authoring at https://blogs.msdn.com/steverac/archive/2008/06/29/the-authoring-console-or-the-operations-console.aspx. However, Steve makes an excellent point in noting that using the Operations Console has a performance hit – since changes are applied as they are made, using the Operations Console for authoring can make the RMS extremely busy. While it DOES depend on the nature of what you are doing, Steve preference is to use the Authoring Console for any serious work. No performance hit, and that’s what it was designed for. Makes sense!
