Earlier today we reported on a poll conducted last week that indicated people seem to think Microsoft Security is improving. But this bit of news may make people change their minds. For the third time in the past two months, Microsoft has had to re-issue a patch because the of a snafu with the original, InfoWorld reports. Yesterday, Microsoft re-released MS08-051 to Office 2003 via Windows Server Update Services. The story reports:
That update patched three vulnerabilities in PowerPoint, the presentation maker included with Microsoft Office, including one that Microsoft labeled “critical,” its highest ranking. MS08-051 was one of 11 security bulletins released last week that patched 26 bugs, the most Microsoft has tackled in a single month for the last year and a half.
In June, Microsoft had to re-release a patch for Bluetooth. Last week, it re-issued a July patch that fixed a flaw in the WSUS patch management system itself.
