All this week, I have been up in Seattle at the Microsoft ILM/CLM 2007 airlift. Naturally, I was in the CLM track and have had a blast going over the product.
CLM, what is that? Because most of you are scratching your head right now let me bring you to speed on what CLM is. CLM is basically, one part of Microsoft’s push into the identity management arena which they are calling Identity Lifecycle Manager 2007. What CLM does, as its name might suggest, is manage the lifecycle of digital certificates and smart cards. In other words, features (workflows) that you wished were natively built into Windows Certificate Services (Active Directory Certificate Services per Server 2008) are finally available.
My conclusion, so far, from what I’ve seen this week is one of “pleasant surprise” with some shortcomings. Over the next couple of days, I hope gather my thoughts and dive a little deeper in what I saw and what my thoughts are. Until then I leave you with the following screenshot:
