At the TechEd Developers Conference in Barlelona, AMD demonstrated today how its Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors have been optimized to run code built from Visual Studio 2008, reports the Monitor Today. Visual Studio 2008 tools will produce optimized code when compiling for Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors.
The collaboration between Microsoft and AMD helps programmers ensure that enjoy better instruction selection, register allocation and 128-bit floating-point performance when code compiles on Opteron. AMD’s web site is hosting coding tips, sample code and downloads of software development tools.
