The most powerful tool in the arsenal of trying to pass any certification test is knowing what is going to be asked. There are three main ways to do this. The easy way is to just go to Microsoft’s web site and look up the exam. You can do that here. You can check by number or by certification. The different exam skills that are being tested are listed there.
Then there is the harder way. You can go and buy any one of several different practice exams. I remember when I first started doing this. There was one company that offered practice tests for Microsoft exams. Microsoft used to give some sample questions for free but usually only 10 or so. Now there are several options for you. They are all pretty good as long as you use them the right way. Don’t make the same mistake most people do. They try to memorize things. That won’t work. You need to go through the explanations and learn from them.
You have another way. You can try to predict what Microsoft will ask about. This can be pretty tough until you have taken some tests to get a feel for things. In my experience, Microsoft tends to ask about the exceptions. The times where things don’t work as planned. For example, I saw several questions related to Event Log error codes. I think it relates to one of the reasons certifications exist. The vendor, be it Microsoft, Novell, Cisco or any one else, wants the certified professional to be able to make their products look good by fixing it quickly.
