Getting the opportunity to play around with beta products is fun but is it fun to test out beta software exams? Not so for some testers of Microsoft’s beta Vista exams.
In his blog post, Jeff Hardee, a mentor at training company NETg, said he took the MCITP 70-621 beta exam late last year but failed to get feedback from Microsoft. He says MS was supposed to have notified testers of their results and award certification on passing. But he began seeing on other posts that MS was throwing out the exam results and testers would need to resit the exams.
In her blog, Trika Harms zum Spreckel, marcomms at Microsoft Learning acknowledges that MS has been flooded with questions from other concerned testers and on Saturday finally gave a formal update: MS will re-run the betas, MS will score the first beta and the scoring model will be based on the results of the second, which includes additional components, and the scores of the first beta will not be available until May 2007. Testers retaking the exam will be scored on the second beta, testers not retaking wil be scored on the first. That clear now?
