Symantec this week is introducing appliances for data protection and storage management that will help customers adopt new software products. The company is unveiling the NetBackup 5020 deduplication appliance and new versions of the FileStore N8300 and NetBackup 5200 storage appliances.

The appliances come with software pre-installed and give customers a single contact for both hardware and software support.
The NetBackup 5200 is a deduplication and NetBackup data protection appliance. The FileStore N8300 is a clustered NAS product that lets customers manage their unstructured data.
The NetBackup 5200 appliances allow backups and deduplication of files up to 32TB per node. The include the NetBackup 501o appliance for remote offices, virtual machines and data center backups. Supported with the NetBackup 5200 are all software agents including those for applications and databases. The NetBackup 5200 appliances are licensed on the amount of data to be deduplicated and support both source and media server deduplication.
In their appliance line, Symantec also introduced the FileStore N8300 cluster NAS for archiving with its Enterprise Vault software. The N8300 is a scale-out NAS appliance that allows users to store unstructured data in on-premise or cloud deployments.
The N8300 scales from two to 16 nodes with a maximum capacity of 1.4PB in a single cluster. Nodes can be scaled for performance, availability or capacity. The N8300 is integrated with NetBackup and has embedded antivirus software.
The FileStore N8300 starts at $72,648; The NetBackup 5200 is $59,995 per node. Both are available now.
