How the heck did Stephen Colbert get an iPad?

Comedian Stephen Colbert got his hands on an Apple iPad during Sunday night's Grammy presentation

Stephen Colbert, of all people, showcased a shiny new Apple iPad on Sunday’s telecast of the Grammys, which Colbert just happened to be hosting. Apple, of course, is known for their extensive and strategic product placement across a range of  TV shows and movies, but a live telecast of an awards show is an entirely different animal. Well played, Apple.

For a product that isn’t even shipping yet, Apple sure seems to be doing all it can to build up as high a profile as possible for the iPad in pop culture. The night before Steve Jobs announced the iPad, 24’s director of photography hinted that everybody’s favorite hero, Jack Bauer, would get to use an iPad during one of the show’s later episodes.

And just in case the YouTube link gets removed, here’s Colbert once again.
