Enhances services CPE, wireless firewalls and ummanaged switches
Cisco this week sought to bring more unified communications capabilities to small and medium-sized businesses by unveiling enhancements across some key SMB platforms. Specifically, Cisco rolled out additions to its Services Ready Platform CPE managed services gateway, Wireless VPN Firewall, and Cisco 100 Unmanaged Switch, according to this report by PC World‘s Patrick Miller.
The new Cisco SRP 526W and 527W Services Ready Platforms are unified communications appliances for ADSL2+ Internet access. They come with four 10/100 Ethernet ports, 2 phone ports and a built-in 802.11n wireless access point for $300, Miller reports.
The new Cisco RV 120W Wireless VPN is a wireless access point for IPsec VPNs, and support for multiple virtual networks, including guest network access. It includes a 4-port switch for $150.
The new unmanaged switches in the Cisco 100 Series come in 5-port, 8-port, 16-port, and 24-port configurations, with desktop and rackmount form factors. Most come with 10/100Mbps and Gigabit Ethernet support but only one – the SF 100D-08 8-port 10/100 model supports PoE, Miller reports.
The list price for these switches starts at $57.
