Agreement extends the integrated solutions Emerson provides to data center managers

Emerson and Avocent Corporation announced Tuesday they have reached agreement for a cash purchase of Avocent at $25 per share, or approximately $1.2 billion. The purchase is expected to close around the first of the calendar year pending regulatory approvals and shareholder acceptance. Avocent’s sales in 2008 were $657 million, with about half of its revenue in the United States. The agreement extends the integrated solutions Emerson provides to data center managers. Avocent blends hardware, software and embedded technologies in a unified keyboard-video-mouse switching platform that simplifies monitoring, managing and problem solving in the data center.
