American Power Conversion last week launched a new data center curriculum for IT managers interested in becoming certified in data center matters.
The Data Center University is now offering an Associate Certification Designation, which recognizes knowledge in power, cooling racks, cabling, fire protection, management and physical security. The Associate Certification is a vendor-neutral credential.
According to a study conducted by the AFCOM Data Center Institute, by 2015, the number of qualified data center professionals will have decreased by 45%. APC is seeking to increase this talent pool by offering the data center certification.
IT administrators taking the exam will answer about 75 questions administered by Thomson Prometric training centers. The e-learning curriculum itself consists of 14 online courses. The cost of the exam is $295.
Data Center University offers online courses in Fundamental Cabling Strategies for Data Centers, eight cooling classes, one class on raised floor implementation, five courses on energy efficiency, power generation and going green in the data center, and blade server integration. There are a variety of other courses you can take online simply by registering here.
There is no cost to take the courses.
Data Center University was first launched in January 2006.
