* Uninterruptible power supply delivers high power in small space
UPS specialist Eaton Powerware last week announced an uninterruptible power supply for server rooms where floor space is scarce.
The UPS measures just 12 inches wide and 33 inches deep to conserve on the floor space taken up. It’s also 4 feet high.
The Powerware 9155 is a double conversion online UPS that uses a 0.9 output power factor to accommodate the high power factor loads required of today’s servers. Power factor describes how much of the current contributes to the real power in the load. For instance, a power factor of 1.0 means that 100% of the current is contributing to the load.
Front-door access makes it easier to service and repair. A multilingual LCD display makes it easy to manage.
The double conversion online architecture of the Powerware 9155 ensures that back-up power is immediately supplied in the event of a power outage. As much as 22 minutes of power is supplied at 10 kVA, according to Eaton.
Eaton boasts that the Powerware has a low input current distortion of less than 5%.
It supports Powerware Hot Sync paralleling of multiple power modules for redundancy of extra capacity. As many as four UPS modules can be paralleled. A technology Powerware calls Advanced Battery Management increases battery life by using a three-pronged charging technique that rests between charging periods and regulates the temperature.
The Powerware 9155 UPS is available in 8 kVA, 10 kVA, 12 kVA and 15 kVA models. It is part of Eaton’s Series 9 family of UPSes and provides protection from power sags, power surges, over voltages, switching transients and a variety of other conditions.
