Judge’s decision means uncertain future for PeopleSoft

As a judge rules that the government can’t bar Oracle from buying PeopleSoft, what was supposed to be a quick takeover is turning into a long siege. Oracle still has to get around PeopleSoft’s “poison pill” provisions that are supposed to prevent hostile takeovers – but with slumping sales, PeopleSoft’s shareholders might decide that Oracle’s buyout is the right thing after all.

Cisco to acquire network monitoring provider NetSolve

Cisco channel partners will be able to offer real-time monitoring of enterprises’ networks following the company’s planned acquisition of NetSolve, which was announced Thursday.

P2P company charges RIAA with patent infringement

The litigious Recording Industry Association of America is involved in another legal dispute with a peer-to-peer technology maker, but this time, the RIAA is on defense. Altnet filed a lawsuit Wednesday accusing the RIAA and several of its partners of infringing an Altnet patent covering technology for identifying requested files on a P2P network.
